VGP -  In 2018, Ha Noi hopes to welcome 25.4 million visitors, including 5.5 million foreign tourists.

The municipal Department of Tourism said on September 11 that Ha Noi expects to welcome nearly 20 million holidaymakers in the first nine months of 2018, a 9.2% increase from the same period last year.

Of the total, 4.3 million were foreign visitors, up 20% year-on-year, and accounting for nearly 40% of the total number of foreign visitors to Viet Nam. Foreign visitors to Ha Noi come from nearly 190 nations and territories, including Western Europe, Australia, North America, Eastern Europe, Northeast Asia, and so on.

Director of the Department Tran Duc Hai said Ha Noi has upgraded infrastructure and diversified tourism products to better serve holidaymakers.

In 2018, Ha Noi aims to welcome more than 25.4 million visitors, including 5.5 million foreigners.

Earlier, Hello, a UK weekly magazine has named Ha Noi the number one city on its seven best destinations in Asia for backpackers.

Recently, the Department debuted a new bilingual portal where tourists can find all the information they need for a trip to the Vietnamese capital.

The site http://tourism.hanoi.gov.vn offers tourism information and services in Vietnamese and English and helps connect users with accredited service providers.

The move is part of the department’s efforts to build Ha Noi into a safe, friendly and civilised tourist destination.

Ideal for travelers on a tight budget, Viet Nam’s capital city is one of the cheapest destinations for backpackers. “Not only is accommodation and food reamarkably affordable, but you’ll be spoiled for choice of things to see and do in the city, which has a mix of Southeast Asian, Chinese and French influences,” Hello magazine wrote.

Earlier, a US$ 2-million deal between Ha Noi and the U.S. television network CNN from 2017 – 2018 has spurred international tourist arrivals to the capital city. TV commercials aired by CNN have been introducing the best of the 1,000-year-old capital to people around the world since early 2017.
