HN launches projects for better environment

VGP – The Municipal People’s Committee of Hà Nội lately assigned its construction department to refresh inner-city lakes and issued regulations on management of solid wastes.

With around VND 180 million, the project will be carried out in the first quarter, focusing on surveying and assessing real conditions of lakes in Hà Nội as well as the management and exploitation of these lakes. 

Currently, in the Capital city, there are around 112 lakes and ponds covering an area of about 1,165 ha.  Among them, 46 have been embellished.

The municipal authorities also approved the Regulations on solid wastes. Accordingly, organizations and individuals discharging solid wastes in wrong places will suffer a  penalty of VND 10-15 million. 

Individuals and households throwing away domestic solid wastes in wrong places will be fired VND 100,000–300,000. 

Individuals and organizations let solid wastes scattering during the process of collection and transportation will be penalized VND 5-10 million.

Besides the above punishments, violators may be forced to either repair the damages or their business licenses revoked.
