VGP – The Capital City of Ha Noi was named in the list of the world’s fastest-growing tourism cities, since it posted a 16.4% average annual growth rate in the 2009 - 2016 period, according to the MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index 2017.

On the basis of the annual tourism growth rates from 2009-2016, Ha Noi ranked seventh in the list and is projected to expand 16.7%. The city was hailed for its simple beauty, charming landscape, abundant gastronomy, diverse service quality, and reasonable costs.

The survey, which ranks 132 cities, found that travel and tourism in the Asia Pacific region are showing no signs of slowing down, with the region dominating visitor arrivals once again.

It shows that the tourism sector in the Asian Pacific region continued to rebound with US$ 91.16 billion of revenue last year, surpassing Europe (with US$ 74.74 billion) and North America (US$ 55.02 billion).

Eric Schneider, the Senior Vice President of Mastercard Advisors in Asia Pacific reported that as the fastest growing region in international tourism, the Asian-Pacific Region would continue to serve as an impetus for growth and national economic development.

Earlier, Ha Noi was named as the cheapest travel destination by TripAdvisor travellers between 2014 and 2016. The travel site estimated last year that a three-night holiday for two in Ha Noi costs only US$494, nearly four times less than New York, the most expensive travel destination in the ranking./.
