Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong (L) greets guests at the New Year gathering with foreign representative agencies

The event was attended by Politburo member and Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, heads of countries’ consulates and their spouses, along with representatives of the offices of international organisations, foreign economic-trade-cultural offices, business associations and non-governmental organisations.

Introducing the significant achievements the city has made over the past year, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Thanh Phong, emphasised that 2019 marked successes for both Viet Nam and Ho Chi Minh City in the field of foreign affairs, as the city exerted efforts to accelerate its ties with localities of other countries, whilst actively and effectively implementing its international integration, promoting itself to international friends, and attracting resources in service of local socio-economic development.

On behalf of the city leaders, Phong thanked the representatives of consulates, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, businesses, and international friends for making contributions to Ho Chi Minh City’s development, whilst calling for their cooperation with locals to develop the city in a stronger fashion, thus actively contributing to partnerships and development between countries.

Hungarian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Baloghdi Tibor, who is also head of consular corps here, congratulated the city on its attainments last year.

He affirmed that consulates in the city will maintain traditional activities and core relations to join in the city’s projects, and apply smart technologies and advanced solutions to create a more attractive economic environment to stimulate growth and investment.
