In 2010, the city’s service sector gained an annual growth rate of 12%, higher than the average growth rate of the country.

In the year, Intel Group (the US), Sanyo and Nidec Groups (Japan)  invested  billions of US $ into the City to develop industries containing high value of science and technology. This year, the US based First Solar Group will invest over US $1 billion in building a solar cell plant in the city.

Meanwhile, Sài Gòn High Tech Park (SHTP) has attracted many high tech groups and companies from the US, EU and Japan, which has turned the park into a good destination for high tech investment.

The SHTP’s roadmap till 2020 is to enhance its capacity of scientific researches, creativity and scientific renovation, increase the contribution of science and technology sector to the shift of economic structure and improve the city’s potentiality of science and technology.

In addition, the working force’s capacity will also be enhanced to be as equal as other countries in the region, while the city will also propose strong policies to attract the internal and external talents.
