HCMC bans gatherings of over three amid complex COVID-19 evolution

VGP – Ho Chi Minh City has decided to ban public gatherings of more than three people as part of its latest measures to prevent spread of COVID-19.

June 20, 2021 10:24 AM GMT+7

People are required to keep a distance of at least 1.5 meter from each other in public places and only leave home for emergencies, buying food and medicine, working at factories and other activities specified by the municipal Department of Health.

Public agencies and businesses, including foreign-invested enterprises shall have to ensure social distancing by minimizing direct contacts and switching to online working.

The southern metropolis said it will impose lockdown on very high-risk and high-risk areas to control the pandemic situation.

It will also ramp up testing capacity to 500,000 samples per day, especially at processing, industrial and high-tech parks.

All people shall have to strictly implement the Ministry of Health’s 5K campaign message: khau trang (facemask), khu khuan (disinfection), khoang cach (distance), khong tu tap (no gathering) and khai bao y te (health declaration), saying these measures are decisive factor to reduce community transmissions.

Viet Nam has experienced the fourth COVID-19 wave since April 27, 2021, with 9,581 community infection cases confirmed in 42 cities and provinces, in which Ho Chi Minh City is currently the second biggest COVID-19 hotspot with 1,530 community infection cases after the northern province of Bac Giang.

Nguyen Thanh Phong, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee said the pandemic remains complex as sources of several infectious chains have yet been identified./.
