HCMC, Chinese localities to boost cooperation

Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee  Nguyen Thanh Phong receives newly-appointed Chinese Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City WuJun

At the reception, Mr. Wu Jun spoke highly of Viet Nam’s economic development, including that of Ho Chi Minh City, stressing the importance of the city’s economic development in Viet Nam’s economy and in Southeast Asia’s.

“With good investment environment, Ho Chi Minh city has attracted Chinese investors,” he said, expressing his belief that the city would continue to develop more strongly as it owns diverse resources.

He confirmed that apart from investment and trade, the two sides would increase cooperation in culture, society and people-to-people exchanges.

For his part, Mr. Phong noted that the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Chinese localities did not match potential, expressing his hope that more initiatives and activities would be carried out to promote the cooperation, especially in areas that are the city’s concerns, including the building of smart city, environment and training of human resources. 

The chairman stressed that the city would make favourable condition for the Chinese Consul General to the city to realize his tasks, adding he hoped Mr. Wu Jun would be a bridge to promote cooperative relationship between two countries, especially in trade.
