VGP – The Government has set goal to reduce fatalities and injuries caused by traffic accidents by 5-10% annually in the next decade, according to its latest national road safety strategy.

The Government also targets to clear traffic jams that last more than 30 minutes as well as road accident hotspots.

All motorized vehicles with expired registration and self-built three- or four-wheelers will be forced off roads.

All car drivers will be required to pay toll fees and penalties via electronic accounts.

A total of 39,900 people were killed and over 70,000 others injured in more than 94,000 traffic accidents nationwide during 2016-2020 period, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee (NTSC) at a video conference on December 9.

The number of accidents, deaths, and injuries decreased by 70,000, 9,400, and 90,000, respectively, against the previous five-year period, the Ministry of Public Security said last week./.
