Gov’t strives for 2017 preset goals

VGP – The Government tasked ministers, agencies, and localities to fulfill the socio-economic development norms in 2017, according to Resolution 106/NQ-CP.

October 16, 2017 9:05 AM GMT+7

The Resolution states that thanks to strong determination of the whole political system, the business community, and people, the socio-economic performance attained important achievements in all fields. Economic growth reached 7.46% in Q3 and 6.41% in the first nine months. The macro-economy was stable; inflation was put under control; credit growth touched nearly 12%; foreign exchange market was stabilized.

Besides the positive achievements, there were abundant difficulties and challenges in socio-economic performance in which the growth of the  industry and construction sector was  low; the number of suspended and dissolved enterprises rose; administrative procedures were complicated and wordy; epidemics and natural disasters occurred unexpectedly.

The Government tasked ministers, agencies, and localities to strive for the preset goals for 2017.

Facilitating SMEs credit access

The Government tasked the State Bank of Viet Nam to keep a close watch on domestic and international situation; apply active and flexible monetary policies; strive for lower lending interest rates; create favorable ways for SMEs to access to credit; restructure weak commercial banks; and effectively implement the Project on restructuring credit institution in combination with settlement of non-performing loans in the 2016-2020 period.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was asked to cooperate with the Ministry of Finance to adjust capital plan in 2017.

Boosting export and expanding market

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) was urged to take drastic steps to promote export; expand market; and support businesses to take advantage of FTA advantages; streamline administrative procedures in export.

The MoIT was asked to work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to respond to trade barriers in export markets./.
