Gov't plans to boost communication about major int'l events

VGP – The PM has recently approved a plan to accelerate communication about Viet Nam’s major international integration events in the period of 2017-2020.

August 03, 2017 4:09 PM GMT+7

Viet Nam is currently the host of APEC Year and will assume ASEAN Chair role in 2020 while running for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 tenure.

The country also sets to fulfill its major international commitments, including commitments to joining the World Trade Organization in 2018, and the signing, ratification and implementation of many new-generation free trade agreements (FTAs).

These are also the tasks that need to be strictly executed in line with the spirit of the Party Central Committee’s Resolution No. 06-NQ/TW dated November 5, 2016 on the effective implementation of the international economic integration process and the maintenance of socio-political stability as Viet Nam joins new-generation FTAs.

Under the plan, agencies need to boost communication concerning APEC Viet Nam-related activities with an aim to show Viet Nam as a dynamic and potential country which has contributed actively to creating a new momentum for regional growth and connectivity.

Communication work will also be strengthened, covering the ASEAN Community with big anniversaries, including the 50th founding anniversary of ASEAN and the celebration of Viet Nam’s 22-year ASEAN membership in 2017, and the celebration of VietNam’s 25-year ASEAN membership and the country’s role as the ASEAN Chair in 2020. Focus will be put on raising public awareness of the ASEAN Community and Viet Nam’s participation, in addition to the challenges, opportunities and benefits brought about by the ASEAN Community.

The specific contents, with regards to the duties, management trends and market trends mentioned in the FTAs which Viet Nam has joined or is going to sign, will be popularized, including the Viet Nam-Republic of Korea FTA, the Viet Nam-European Union FTA, the Viet Nam-Eurasian Economic UnionFTA, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement.

In addition, web portals, databases, specialized pages and categories will be built, aiming to disseminating essential information and documents on international integration and FTAs for ministries, sectors, agencies, press agencies, organizations and individuals in need.
