Gov’t optimistic of accomplishing all goals amid continued positive signals

VGP – The Government may successfully realize all 12 goals approved by the National Assembly for 2018, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Cabinet meeting on Monday.

The Government even outperformed some of the goals, PM Phuc added.

In November last year, the Legislature passed a resolution on the 2018 socio-economic development plan that includes key goals on GDP, export, poverty reduction, urban unemployment, and trained rate of workforce among others.

Economic indicators showed positive signals in the first 11 moths, according to official statistics.

The economy expanded 6.98% between January and September, the highest rate since 2011, while consumer price index in November saw a month-on-month decline of 0.29%, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.

Index of industrial production (IIP) in the first 11 months of 2018 increased by 9.7% compared with the same period last year, led by strong growth of processing and manufacturing (11%), followed by electricity production and distribution (9.2%).

Disbursed volume of foreign investment reached US$16.5% in the first 11 months, up 3.1% against the same period last year.

Foreign arrivals to Viet Nam rose 21.3% to 14.12 million in the reviewed period, said the GSO.

Also at the meeting, PM Phuc also urged inferior levels to strive for the growth rate of 6.8% next year./.
