Over the past month, these units have persistently stayed at the location where China illegally installed the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 to demand China immediately withdraw the rig and escorted ships from Viet Nam’s waters.

In the reviewed period, 24 Vietnamese law enforcement vessels have been rammed and damaged by Chinese ships.

Deputy PM Ninh highly valued the strong determination of the Vietnamese fisheries surveillance and coast guard forces as well as the responsibility of each staff of these forces in defending the national sovereignty through peaceful measures.

He said that the Vietnamese law enforcement forces will continue to be modernized to defend the national sovereignty and protect fishermen under all circumstances

Earlier on the same day, Deputy PM Ninh also visited a shipbuilding factory of the Song Thu Incorporation of the Ministry of National Defense and the city’s fishermen./.
