Gov’t mulls over new action plan in response to climate change

VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai urged relevant ministries to quickly design an action plan to realize the Climate Agreement passed at the 2015 Paris Climate Conference (COP21) and a national target program on climate change adaption and green growth in the 2016-2020 period.

The requirement was made by Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai at a meeting on December 30.

By now, the Government has promulgated key legal documents, make public scenarios and evaluate the impacts of climate change on different sectors and regions.

So far, foreign sponsors have financed nearly US$1.3 billion for Viet Nam to launch urgent projects on climate change.

Earlier this month, PM Nguyen Tan Dung led a Vietnamese delegation to attend and make crucial contribution to the COP21 in Paris.

At the conference, Viet Nam pledged to contribute US$1 million to the Green Climate Fund in the 2016-2020 period.
