Gov’t issues Decree on functions, tasks of VTV

VGP - The Government recently issued Decree No.02/2018/ND-CP regulating the functions, tasks, powers and structure of the Viet Nam Television (VTV).

The VTV is a governmental agency and national television which disseminates the Party’s guidelines and policies and the State’s laws, contributing to the people’s enhanced intellectual standards and spiritual lives through TV programs and various forms of press and multimedia.

The VTV is responsible for building and submitting to the Government and the Prime Minister its long-, medium- and short-term and annual strategies and plans and other important projects, and implementing them after approved.

It is also responsible for producing, transmitting, broadcasting, issuing and archiving TV programs and print and online newspapers in line with legal regulations, while deciding on its daily broadcasting contents, programs and time volume. 

In addition, the VTV coordinates with local televisions and radio-television stations on program production schedules broadcast on VTV channels.

Under the decree, VTV, a system of 31 units, has a General Director and a maximum of four Deputy General Directors. The General Director and Deputy General Directors are appointed and dismissed by the PM in accordance with relevant laws.
