Gov’t determines to eliminate obstacles against businesses

VGP - The Government discussed a draft law on amending and supplementing some articles of the laws on investment and businesses at the first working day of its on-going monthly plenary meeting.

The draft law was designed to revise some articles of the 11 existing laws, namely the Law on Investment, Law on Enterprises, Law on Land, Law on Construction, Law on Environmental Protection, Law on Prevention and Control of Fires, Law on Tax Management, Law on Corporate Income Tax, Law on Urban Planning, Law on Advertising, and Law on Housing.

 According to Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long, the current laws regulating shortcomings and conflicting provisions, creating “bottlenecks’ that hinder investment and business activities.

Especially, business community complained about procedures related to land, investment, and construction, he added.

Mr. Long said the Government mulls over cutting 67 business lines subjected to business conditions, clarifying the definition of business conditions, technical standards, and conditions for foreign investors.

The draft law aims to improve investment protection and encouragement, eradicate obstacles against business operations.

The draft law also targets to further reform administrative procedures, especially those related to the implementation of investment projects using land and increase the autonomy of authorities in deciding investment orientations.

Chairman of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vu Tien Loc said the business community really supports the Government’s drastic efforts to facilitate business environment.

This draft law demonstrates the Government’s resolve to strengthen State management in accordance with market rule and create an environment conducive to enterprises’ operations, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Government chief urged the Ministry of Justice to cooperate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and relevant ministries and agencies to continue collecting comments on the draft law.

The draft law will be sent to the National Assembly for discussions at its working session by the end of this year./.
