Warmly welcoming the visit of PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng to Western China, Premier Wen Jiabao strongly believed that the tour is a new driving force to enhance the Việt Nam-China strategic partnership for comprehensive cooperation.

Việt Nam is a friendly neighbor and an important partner of China, said the Premier, adding that his country always respects and wants to foster the bilateral ties.

Responding to his Chinese counterpart, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng expressed his pleasure at the advancements of the partnership between Việt Nam and China.

The two countries’ leaders agreed to work with each other to prepare for the Việt Nam–China Friendship Year 2010; strengthen high-level contacts; and enhance exchanges at all levels.

The two leaders were unanimous in key measures to attain the two-way trade turnover of US $25 billion in 2010, ensure trade balance, and early launch a direct air route between Việt Nam and Chengdu.

They agreed to direct competent agencies of both countries to early conduct preparatory work for the signing of documents on border issues.

Both PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao hoped to address sea issues via negotiations including international laws - the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (CLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties (DOC) in the Eastern Sea for the sake of the two countries, regional peace, stability and prosperity.

They pledged to strengthen ties between ASEAN and China.
