Gov’t chief receives outgoing Danish Ambassador

VGP - PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for outgoing Danish Ambassador to Viet Nam Charlotte Laursen on December 20 in Ha Noi.

PM Phuc congratulated the Danish Ambassador on her successful mission in Viet Nam, hailing that the comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Denmark has progressed in a positive manner in all fields of priority with   the important contributions of the Danish Ambassador. 

Despite a relatively far geographical distance between the two countries, the two-way trade turnover fetched US$600 million last year, said PM Phuc. He hailed the positive developments in the trade ties. In addition, the two countries have spared no effort to beef up cooperation in other fields namely culture, healthcare, education, energy especially wind power which Denmark has strength and experience while Viet Nam has demand. 

PM Phuc suggested the Danish side early ink the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement to promote the bilateral ties in particular and the Viet Nam-EU relations in general. 

On this occasion, the PM treasured the Danish Government for facilitating overseas Vietnamese students and community, thus contributing to nurturing the bilateral ties. 

However, the bilateral ties fails to meet with respective potentials, said PM Phuc, hoping that the two sides would cement and deepen cooperation in various fields which Denmark has strength and Viet Nam has demand. 

The host leader took the occasion to thank the Ambassador for her contributions to the bilateral ties, affirming that Viet Nam attaches importance to the relations with Denmark, an important partner in the Northern Europe. 

In reply, Ambassador Charlotte Laursen expressed her gratitude to the Vietnamese Government, PM Phuc, ministries, and agencies for supporting her second mission in Viet Nam. The Ambassador said that she was glad to witness the robust socio-economic development here and the strong progresses in the bilateral ties.  

The guest leader assessed that the bilateral ties have flourished in which 130 Danish firms are present in the Southeast Asian nation. Danish enterprises are proud of abundant advantages and hope to develop trade and retail sales; green growth, environment, energy, and food processing in Viet Nam.  

Finally, the Ambassador pledged to spare no effort to support and promote the bilateral ties./.
