Gov’t chief greets Japanese and Chinese guests

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc separately hosted receptions for Chief Executive Officer and President of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd. (BTMU) and Chairwoman of the Chinese Huawei Group Sun Yafang on February 15 in Ha Noi.

PM Phuc emphasized that the strategic ties between Viet Nam and Japan have been increasingly flourishing. He congratulated the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi for its good investment activities in Viet Nam.

So far, Japanese enterprises poured over US$ 42 billion of investment into Viet Nam, making itself the second largest investor in the Southeast Asian nation. Hence, the Government chief hoped that Japanese investors would pay more attention to Viet Nam and become the biggest FDI provider here.

The Vietnamese Government, affirmed PM Phuc, pledged to create favourable ways for Japanese enterprises to broaden operation in Viet Nam. “Your successes mean our successes,” he added.

According to PM Phuc, Vietnamese enterprises hoped to cooperate with Japanese peers on administration and business production.

The host leader took the occasion to suggest the BTMU join a large-scale investment promotion program which was launched by the The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

In reply, CEO Oyamada briefed the successful strategic cooperation between the BTMU and Vietinbank which contributed to Viet Nam’s  socio-economic development.

“Japanese enterprises are extremely interested in investment and business activities in Viet Nam,” said Mr. Oyamada.

The same day, PM Phuc lauded the contributions of Chinese Huawei Group to Viet Nam’s information technology development during a meeting with Chairwoman of the group Sun Yafang.

He stressed that the Viet Nam-China relations have thrived in all socio-economic aspects. So far, the two-way trade has outstripped US$100 billion, which is a favorable condition for businesses of both sides to foster partnership.

Welcoming Huawei’s expansion of operation in Viet Nam, the PM said that he hopes Huawei will strengthen partnership with Vietnamese firms in online information security.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will always create the best possible conditions for the cooperation. 

The Government leader agreed with Sun’s proposal of giving more attention to the development of products serving the protection of online information.

For her part, Sun expressed her impression at the Vietnamese PM’s attention to the promotion of affiliation between Vietnamese businesses and foreign partners, including Huawei Group.

As one of world leading ICT solution providers, with revenue of US$75.1 billion in 2016, Huawei, stands ready to share its experience with Viet Nam in IT development. 

Ms. Sun also hailed Viet Nam’s strategy for IT growth and noted her hope to contribute more to IT and telecommunication area in the country. 

The Chairwoman said that the group is also keen on infrastructure development and products for information safety in Viet Nam.

Huawei plans to hold training courses in ICT advances for Vietnamese students and ICT officials, which include courses in cyber security, with a total investment of 250,000 USD per year, according to Sun.

The group will also launch a 300,000 USD programs to nurture telecommunications talents in Viet Nam, while continue providing computers and ICT devices to schools in remote areas with an investment of US$ 100,000 per year, she noted./.
