Gov’t chief decides urgent aid for flood-hit provinces

VGP – The PM this morning delivered an urgent notice requiring the Minister of Finance to immediately allocate 2,000 tons of rice and VND 200 billion for local people in Hà Tĩnh and Quảng Bình Provinces in Central Việt Nam.

Quảng Bình and Hà Tĩnh will receive 1,000 tons of rice and VND 100 billion each.

As reported by the Office of Government, by the October 17 morning, in Hà Tĩnh, one people died and another was injured by severe floods. The province’s 35,430 houses were submerged; all 22 communes in Hương Khê District, 12 communes in Vũ Quang District and 16 communes in Hà Tĩnh City were flooded completely.

Torrential rains and floods also sank 13,792 houses in four districts of Tuyên Hóa, Minh Hóa, Lệ Thủy, and Quảng Ninh in Quảng Bình Province.

Water reservoirs in these two provinces are still kept in safety.
