The Government chief made the request Thursday in Hà Nội while presiding over a meeting which summarized the 10-year period (2001-2010) of restructuring, renewing, developing and raising efficiency of SOEs.

Mr. Dũng stressed that over the past ten years, competent agencies composed a relatively synchronous institutional system to regulate SOEs and clarify SOE ownerships.

The number of small and medium-sized SOEs was slashed down. The scale of SOEs grew, their operation was improved and incomes of laborers in SOEs increased, said the Prime Minister.

The equitization process has created multi-ownership forms and generated new momentums and management mechanisms for better and transparent performance of SOEs.

“The process is on the right track with meaningful achievements,” said Mr. Dũng. However, there still remain some shortcomings which must be addressed, he added.

In the coming time, the restructuring will be continued in a bid to help SOEs run more efficiently and fulfill their assigned missions.

Prime Minister Dũng pointed to specific tasks to be done, referring to perfecting mechanisms on management of SOEs, ownership, business operation, staff work, farms and afforestation yards.

Ministries, agencies and localities were requested to finalize schemes on SOEs restructuring well within this year./.
