VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on September 17 asked the Central Committee for Flood and Storm Control and the National Committee for Search and Rescue to be prepared for the coming tropical storm.

September 18, 2013 10:27 AM GMT+7

According to the National Centre for Hydro-meteorological Forecasting, a low tropical pressure area in the East Sea developed into a storm, the eighth so far this year. It is forecast to bring torrential rains to the North and Central Regions.

The central provinces of Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh and Ha Tinh are forecast to have flooding.

Deputy PM Hai has asked local authorities and border guards to call on vessels in Quang Binh to Phu Yen provinces to take shelter and evacuate people in vulnerable areas to higher places.

Related ministries and agencies were tasked to inspect safety of dams and reservoirs in response to possible flooding./.
