Gov’t braces for 9th tropical cyclone

VGP – As the ninth tropical storm, which was predicted to be complicated, was likely to hit areas where natural disasters merely arrive, it is necessary for competent agencies and localities to stay alert and make proper preparations, said Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung.

Deputy PM Dung made the point at a video-conference of the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on preparation for the ninth tropical storm. 

Leaders of the Central Region, the Central Highlands Region, and the South East Region reported that they have conducted a range of preparatory activities and call on vessels to seek shelter.  

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong who is the Head of the Central Steering Committee said that the storm would be extreme. It was projected to hit the South Central Region which has ever never prone to storms. Meanwhile, many foreign weather agencies made the same forecasts. 

Addressing the meeting, Deputy PM Dung praised the Central Steering Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, relevant ministries and localities for their proactive preparation for the storm.

However, Mr. Dung noticed localities in the South Central Region to keep an eye on the unusual developments of the storm. 

He tasked ministries, agencies, and localities to raise awareness and make proper preparation for the storm; ensure safety for lakes, reservoirs, infrastructure works, and people’s houses./.
