General Giap’s State Funeral observed

(VGP) - State agencies and public places are flying flags at half-mast ahead of the state funeral for General Vo Nguyen Giap, commencing simultaneously in Hanoi, Quang Binh, and Ho Chi Minh City at 7:30 on October 12.

October 12, 2013 7:41 AM GMT+7

All entertainment activities were stopped from 12:00 on Friday October 11.

Hanoi will hold its funeral service at the National Funeral House from 7:30 to 21:00 on October 12.

The memorial ceremony will take place at around 8:00 the following morning.

The motorcade carrying General Giap’s coffin will leave the national funeral house at its conclusion, travelling through the city—including past the General’s home on Hoang Dieu Street—on its way to Noi Bai International Airport.

The plane transporting General Giap’s coffin will be met at Quang Binh’s Dong Hoi Airport by another motorcade. The coffin will be taken to Yen Island in Quang Trach district’s Quang Dong commune, General Giap’s home province and final resting place.
