Fund set up to assist Vietnamese nationals abroad

The fund, managed by the Foreign Ministry, will have 20 billion VND sourced from the State budget, and will call for contributions from the overseas Vietnamese community and donors.

Vietnamese diplomatic representative offices, consular offices and authorised agencies abroad will be entitled to use the fund for activities to protect Vietnamese nationals and legal entities.

The fund will also be used to support Vietnamese nationals hit by extreme difficulties, accidents, or situations that require outside intervention.

It will also advance airfares, fees for medical treatment and accommodation for Vietnamese nationals who are financially unable to provide for themselves.
