Fruits and vegetables pocket US$ 2 billion export turnover in H1

VGP – Overseas shipment of fruits and vegetables was estimated at US$ 2.06 billion in the first half of 2019, representing a year-on-year growth of 3.9%, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) reported.

In June, fruit and vegetable exports were estimated at US$ 298 million, bringing the total figure to US$ 2.06 billion, up 3.9% against the same period last year. 

Overseas shipment of vegetables was estimated at US$ 272 million, up 1.1%. Fruit export earned US$ 1.6 billion, up 11.9% against the same period last year. 

China was the biggest importer of Viet Nam by occupying 73.11% of the market share. In the first five months, the neighboring country spent US$ 1.31 billion to import Vietnamese fruits and vegetables. 

On the other hand, import turnover of fruits and vegetables was estimated at US$ 147 million, raising the total figure to US$ 991 million, up 34.7% against the same period last year./.
