French PM wraps up tour to VN

VGP – PM Francois Fillon confirmed that France attaches importance to promoting comprehensive cooperation with Việt Nam, especially in sustainable development through large projects.

PM Francois Fillon yesterday left the central city of Huế, concluding his official visit to Việt Nam which started on November 12.

During his stay here, Mr. Francois Fillon held talks with PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng; paid courtesy visits to Party General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh and State President Nguyễn Minh Triết; and had a meeting with NA Chairman Nguyễn Phú Trọng.

Meeting Vietnamese leaders, PM Francois Fillon stated that France places importance on ties with Việt Nam.

The leaders agreed to develop economic, trade and investment cooperation commensurate to political relations and potentials of the two countries. They pledged to create favorable conditions for their enterprises to do investment and business in their respective countries, especially in infrastructure, energy, aviation, telecommunication, technology, environment protection and responding to climate change.

On the occasion, Việt Nam and France signed many important cooperation documents, including the agreement on the Hà Nội Science and Technology University, the agreement on the development and use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, the agreement on social safety, the agreement on cultural centers, and the agreement on military cooperation.

At the Việt Nam-France Business Forum, the two sides inked 18 pacts on cooperation in petroleum, finance, banking, telecommunication, electric power, and building small satellites.
