Four new Covid-19 cases confirmed, total rises to 590

VGP – The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control on Sunday morning confirmed four new Covid-19 cases, raising the country’s patient tally to 590.

The latest patients include two cases linked to Da Nang City and the rest are imported cases.

Specifically, patients numbered 587 and 588 were among passengers onboard the flight VN5062 from Russia.

The pair landed at the Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh on July 17 and quarantined in Hoa Bình Province.

They are being treated at the Hoa Binh General Hospital.

With these two cases, the number of Covid-19 patients on the flight rose to 23.

Patient 589 is a 42-year old man from Ho Chi Minh City. He had visited Da Nang (Nam Hoi An and Thanh Khe District) and returned to Ho Chi Minh City where he had his sample tested for Covid-19.

He is being treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City.

Patient 590 is a 40-year old man from Quang Ngai. He had been in close contact with patient 517 at the Da Nang General Hospital.

He got his sample collected by the Quang Ngai Center for Disease Control and was confirmed positive for the virus by the Nha Trang Paseur Institute on August 1.

Among the total patients confirmed so far, 144 cases are linked to new Covid-19 epidecenter of Da Nang, said the Steering Committee.

As many as 373 patients have been cleared of Covid-19 and three fatalities related to the virus have been confirmed over the past days, the Committee added.

At present, the nation is placing 94,216 people under quarantine and medical surveillance, including 920 at hospitals, 14,249 at centralized quarantine camps and 79,047 at places of residence./.
