Former German Vice Chancellor appointed Chairman of VinaCapital Ventures’ Advisory Board

VGP - VinaCapital Ventures, the technology investment company of VinaCapital, on March 15 announced the appointment of Dr. Philipp Rösler, former German Vice Chancellor, as the Chairman of its Advisory Board.

Dr. Philipp Rösler, former German Vice Chancellor is appointed Chairman of VinaCapital Ventures’ Advisory Board

Speaking at the event, Dr. Rösler said: “VinaCapital has been one of the most successful and longstanding venture capital investors in Viet Nam, and I am excited to work with Don and the team as chairman of the advisory board.”

Since leving the German Government and the World Economic Forum, "I have been keen to apply my varied experiences I have gained over the years and, if possible, do so in the country of my birth, and this opportunity enables me to do precisely that," said Rösler.

“Viet Nam is blessed with enormous energy and talent and I look forward to playing a part in helping Vietnamese startups realize their full potential”, he added.

Dr. Rösler, born in the Southern province of Soc Trang of Viet Nam in 1973, was former German Vice Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Technology.

Launched in 2018, VinaCapital Ventures is a US$100 million technology holding company that invests in the next generation of Vietnamese and Southeast Asian startups.

Its mission is to help develop strong technology companies in Viet Nam and assist them in building a regional presence. In supporting entrepreneurs, VinaCapital Ventures offers capital, network and mentorship.

Its team combines a diverse set of skills and experience, ranging from entrepreneurship, product marketing, operational management, and technology strategy, to developing client bases, deal making and capital raising.
