Forestry exports up nearly 19%

VGP – Viet Nam gained US$1.031 billion from exporting forestry products in August, a year-on-year increase of 16%, raising the total forestry exports in eight months of 2019 to US$7.08 billion, up 18.6% against the same period last year.

According to the Forestry Department, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, wood and wooden product exports in eight months hit US$6.66 billion, of which the trade surplus was estimated at US$5.402 billion. 

Viet Nam’s five key forestry export markets included the U.S., Japan, the EU, China and the Republic of Korea, making up nearly 80% of the total.

The nation’s wood and wooden product import value in August this year attained US$216 million, bringing the total export value in eight months to US$1.673 billion, a year-on-year increase of 14%. 

10 key wood and wooden product import markets consisted of China, the U.S., Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, Brazil, New Zealand and France, accounting for 60% of the total.
