VGP - Leaders of China, Laos, Cuba, and Russia on October 23 have extended their congratulatory messages to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong upon his election as the State President of Viet Nam for the remainder of the 2016-2021 tenure.

October 24, 2018 9:49 AM GMT+7

In his message, Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping asserted to attach importance to developing Viet Nam-China, willing to work with Party General Secretary and President Trong in enhancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights.

Conveying his congratulations to Mr. Trong, Lao Party General Secretary and President Bounnhang Vorachith highlighted that under Mr. Trong’s leadership in his new post, Viet Nam will continue obtaining more significant achievements and the Viet Nam-Laos friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation will be further enhanced.

In the messages sent by First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee Raul Castro Ruz, and President of the Council of State and Council of Ministers of Cuba Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez, the Cuban leaders wished Mr. Trong success in his new post and affirmed their determination to strengthen bilateral friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.

Extending greetings to Mr. Trong, Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the result of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA)’s vote demonstrated the new President’s high reputation during his years of serving at different high-ranking Government and State posts. It also reflected an acknowledgement of the official’s contributions to Viet Nam’s socio-economic development and the enhancement of its external diplomatic position.

Mr. Putin referred to the constructive talks between the two leaders in Sochi, Russia last September, expressing his belief that the two sides will make efforts in consolidating the Viet Nam-Russia strategic cooperation.
