Ford Foundation chief representative granted with campaign medal

VNGOP – Deputy Foreign Minister Lê Văn Bàng had a reception with Dr. Charles Bailey, the leaving head of the Hà Nội-based Ford Foundation office on September 07.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs leaders, Deputy FM Lê Văn Bàng stated the decision to grant a Campaign Medal for Diplomatic Career to Dr. Charles Bailey to acknowledge the latter’s contributions to providing humanitarian and development aid to Việt Nam in general and to the country’s diplomatic activities in particular.

The Deputy FM expressed his hope that, in the new post as the Director of the US Dioxin Special Initiatives Fund, Dr. Charles Bailey will make greater contributions to the Vietnamese people, especially Agent Orange victims and dioxin-contaminated areas.

Dr. Charles Bailey revealed that Ford Foundation will spend US$ 7.5 million on activities to deal with dioxin-related consequences in Việt Nam in the coming two years.
