ISA Tan Tec has just held the German-traditional 'topping out party' for its newly-completed tannery in the Việt Hương 2 Industrial Park in the southern province of Bình Dương.

The US $8.7 million factory, equipped with new technologies and fueled with recycled energies, will emit carbon dioxide 35% less than conventional production facilities. The figure is derived from the factory's CO2 footprint for each square meter of leather produced.

The new factory will meet the new LITE standards which are based on the calculations by the British Leather Technology Center for the average energy and water consumption of the industry. Accordingly, LITE products require 30% less energy and 50% less water.

The factory will employ around 280 workers, yearly producing two million square meters of high-quality leather.

ISA Tan Tech is providing tanned leather for the world's leading shoe manufacturers including Timberland, New Balance, Keen, Reef, Hush Puppies and Simple Shoes.
