First private carrier starts operation

VGP - Indochina Airlines became the first private carrier coming into operation when launching its commercial flights from Hồ Chí Minh City to Hà Nội and Đà Nẵng yesterday.

November 26, 2008 2:37 PM GMT+7
A plane of Indochina Airlines is about to take off in its first commercial flight on November 25
Indochina Airlines, the second private carrier in Việt Nam, after Vietjet Air, was licensed in May 2008 with a charter capital of US $13 million.
The firm intends to use two Boeings B737-800 to operate three shutter flights each day between Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội; and two others between Hồ Chí Minh City and Đà Nẵng.
Each plane has 12 business seats and 162 economic ones.
The initial price for a one way ticket between Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội ranges from US $50 to US $230.
Before launching flights to other destinations in the region, Indochina Airlines is planning to explore the air routes between Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội to tourist sites like Huế, Nha Trang and Đà Lạt in the first two year.
There are six airlines in Việt Nam, namely Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Vietjet Air, Indochina and Mekong Air.
