First event of APEC VN 2017 to take place tomorrow
VGP – The ASEAN Informal Senior Officials' Meeting (ISOM) and related meetings will be held from December 8-9 in Ha Noi, marking the first event within the framework of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Viet Nam 2017.
The meetings will include official activities such as a seminar on priorities of the APEC Viet Nam 2017, an opportunity for Viet Nam to know concerns of other members, receive comments from delegates, international organizations, scholars and businesses about the international and regional cooperation trends.
Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh, Chairman of the National Committee for the APEC 2017 will attend and make an opening speech at the event, which is expected to attract 350 delegates from international organizations, foreign and domestic scholars and businesses, ministries and agencies.
The dialogue of APEC and enterprises under the theme "Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future" will be attended by some 100 representatives from domestic and foreign commerce chambers, associations and enterprises. It aims to help Vietnamese and APEC firms to get more information about the forum and opportunities they may grasp in 2017.
The ISOM, the most important event in the series, will be attended by senior officials from APEC member economies, APEC Secretariat, and APEC observers to discuss priorities and main activities of APEC Year 2017, laying ground for the adoption of priorities of APEC Year 2017 at the first APEC SOM in March next year.
After the closing of the ISOM, there will be an international conference on APEC Year 2017 during which theme, priority directions, logo, e-Portal and calendar of APEC 2017 will be introduced.
