FM holds talks with Algerian counterpart

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on July 13 held talks with Algerian FM Abdelkader Messahel on the occasion of the Algerian diplomat’s official visit to Viet Nam from July 13-14.

At the talks, the Algerian FM expressed his wish to foster ties with Viet Nam in the fields of politics-diplomacy, trade, investment, oil and gas, and labor and highly appraised the promising operations of Bir Seba joint-venture with the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (Petro Viet Nam), considering it a symbol of success in bilateral cooperation. 

He suggested enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ provinces and cities via visits, trade fairs, training courses, and scholarships. 

Deputy PM Minh asked the two countries’ ministries and agencies to realize the outcomes of the 11th meeting of the Viet Nam-Algeria Inter-Governmental Committee in November 2017. 

The host proposed the two sides make preparations for the Algerian PM’s visit to Viet Nam in 2019 as well as strengthenthe legal framework to facilitate bilateral trade-investment, especially the implementation of the agreements in investment encouragement and protection, double taxation avoidance, plant quarantine, vet hygiene, and protocol on goods trade. 

The Vietnamese leader urged Algeria to continue assisting PetroViet Nam’s investment activities in the country, creating favorable conditions for the group to expand exploration and exploitation of potential lots, and provide technical services in the field. 

Speaking highly of the prospect for bilateral labor bonds, Mr. Minh proposed that Algeria facilitate Vietnamese laborers' long-term work in the country, and consider the signing of a labor cooperation agreement between the two nations in the near future. 

The Algerian FM respectively invited Mr. Minh to pay an official visit to Algeria and the Vietnamese diplomat also accepted invitation with pleasure.
