FIFA President visits VN, welcomed by Gov’t chief

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Thursday received Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) who is on a working visit to Viet Nam.

PM Phuc highlighted the special significance of the visit as Vietnamese people are preparing for the traditional Tet holiday and celebrating the victory of the U23 football team as they are the runner-up of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) this year. 

The PM stressed Viet Nam is a football-loving nation and the recent performance of the U23 football team has brought about a cheerful atmosphere. Their triumph has produced special effects as it helped stimulate the spirit of national pride and unity and create festive atmosphere nationwide.

He also took the occasion to seek FIFA’s assistance for improving capacity of football management, affirming Viet Nam’s resolve to work with FIFA toward clean football

FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed his honor and pleasure to visit Viet Nam on this special occasion.

FIFA acknowledged the success of the Vietnamese U23 football team came as results of regular care and support of the Viet Nam Football Federation, the Vietnamese Government, and especially the support of Vietnamese people.

The FIFA President also pledged to continue support for Viet Nam’s efforts to further football development.

As FIFA is developing a football school project with a view to encouraging more primary pupils including boys and girls to learn about football, President Gianni Infantino calls for more support from the Vietnamese Government for the project./.
