Digital marketing, which started to gain traction in Vietnam in recent years, may be one of the few sectors to benefit from the country’s sharp economic slowdown, as local companies look for more cost-effective ways to plug their products.

With nearly a quarter of its population using the Internet, Việt Nam has always positioned itself among the world’s top 20 countries with the highest pace of internet development.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, 35% of Vietnamese population will access to the Internet by 2010.

In addition, the number of mobile phone subscribers continues to rise, accounting for half of the population by the end of this year.

A report from the Việt Nam Advertising Association last year revealed online spending in the country was a modest figure around US $10 million but what more interesting is its growth rate forecasted at 50% per year.

These are good preconditions for the digital marketing development in Việt Nam.

At SDM Summer ‘09 conference, Vietnamese marketing experts can learn experience from world-class high-profile speakers in the Digital Marketing circle, including Jeremy Fain, Vice President of the US Interactive Advertising Bureau, Bennett Porter, Yahoo’s Marketing Director of Southeast Asia, and Adrian Hoon, regional director for Asia of Epsilon International.
