Europe, strategic area of VN’s exports

VGP - Politburo member and Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh on June 11 attended the conference gathering commercial counselors and head of trade offices of Viet Nam in Europe in Moscow, Russia.

June 12, 2019 11:26 AM GMT+7

Speaking at the event, Binh highly spoke of achievements made by Viet Nam’s trade representatives in the European market, asserting that researches and proposals of mechanisms, policies and frameworks to take advantages brought by the new Free Trade Agreements (FTA) and the enhancement of Viet Nam’s participation in the global and regional chains are crucial tasks in the time ahead.

He asked for focusing on market development works, supporting enterprises and actively coping with trade prevention measures.

The commercial counselors must keep close contact with the other sectors’ associations and domestic big firms to effectively take advantages of the upcoming FTAs.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Viet Nam’s exports to Europe exceeded US$62 billion in 2018, up 11.85%.

Especially, the exports to the Eurasian Economic Union witnessed a sharp increase of 12% in 2018 as the FTA between Viet Nam and the bloc came into effect in 2016.

Delegates at the conference concentrated on discussing measures to strengthen market surveys, establish new cooperative frameworks on economics, trade and industry to meet Viet Nam’s economic demands amid the new period as well as tackle market barriers and accelerate trade promotion serving enterprises.
