Eight Localities Complete First Phase of COVID-19 Vaccinations

VGP – Eight cities and provinces namely Tay Ninh, Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Hoa Binh and Ha Giang have completed the first phase of COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the Ministry of Health.

The first batch of 117,600 COVID-19 vaccine doses arrived in Viet Nam in February 24, allowing the country to kick-start national inoculation program on March 8.

Meanwhile, the nation received the first tranche of 811,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through COVAX Facility - a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF and WHO, on April 1.

Deputy Minister of Health Truong Quoc Cuong has recently signed a decision on allocation of AstraZeneca 811,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped to Viet Nam via the COVAX Facility.

Specifically, the North will be allocated 317,550 doses, the Central region with 68,700 doses, the Central Highlands Region with 49,000 doses, the South with 245,350 doses.

The public security and military forces will receive 30,000 and 80,000 respectively. The EPI and the NICVB will get 20,000 doses and 600 doses, respectively.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, the nation has recorded 2,683 cases so far. The total recoveries are 2,429 while the death toll remained at 35.
