Eco-tourism – development orientation for central lagoon region

VGP – The PM just ratified the socio-economic development plan for the Tam Giang-Cầu Hai Lagoon Region (Thừa Thiên-Huế Province) in the period of 2010-2020 under which the region will be converted into a major coastal economic center in Việt Nam.

December 03, 2009 10:38 AM GMT+7

Tourism is the backbone economic industry of the Tam Giang-Cầu Hai Lagoon Region
The Lagoon and the Huế Ancient Imperial Citadel will form a tourism complex of resorts, convalescence sites, craft villages, and natural reserves for rare species and biodiversity.

There are also environmentally-friendly facilities for shipbuilding and processing industries.

Under the plan, vocational training courses will be opened for poor locals; grassroots-level educational and health networks will be upgraded, including the construction of several polyclinics and a regional hospital.

New towns of Thuận An and Hương Trà, and Chân Mây-Lăng Cô City will be built while fishing villages can be converted into fisheries urban quarters.
