Dong Nai works to attract US$700 million in FDI in 2021

Despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, IPs in the province lured 10 FDI projects in the first quarter of this year, while 19 others added a combined US$320 million, hitting 46% of the annual plan.

Average capital stood at US$19 million per project in Q1; higher than the US$11 million posted in the same period last year.

Major projects include the second phase of the Hansol Electronics Viet Nam project at the Ho Nai IP, with registered capital of US$100 million; the US$60 millionfactory of the Ojitex Viet Nam Co. at the Loc An - Binh Son IP; and Platel Vina’s plant at the Amata IP, with US$30 million.

Thirty-two IPs in Dong Nai are home some 1,900 projects invested by domestic businesses and foreign companies from 41 countries and territories, of which 1,362 are FDI projects totalling US$ 26.96 billion.

All the investors are committed to bringing in the money this quarter and getting their projects on stream by the end of this year or next year.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Cao Tien Dung said industrial development and FDI attraction would be given priority for the next five years.

Last year, Dong Nai attracted 66 FDI projects worth US$402.27 million and 26 domestic ones with more than VND2.3 trillion (US$100.03 million).

Along with Binh Duong and Long An, Dong Nai is one of the major industrial hubs adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City which have accelerated the planning and development of industrial park infrastructure to catch the wave of shifting FDI flows.

In addition to developing new industrial zones in districts, Dong Nai is also planning to expand Amata Industrial Park in Bien Hoa City by 27 hectares.
