"Don ca tai tu" recognized as world cultural heritage

VGP - UNESCO has officially recognized the art of don ca tai tu in the South of Viet Nam as the intangible cultural heritage of Humanity

According to the Department of Cultural Heritage, Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo meets the criteria for being on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, such as being passed down by generations in southern provinces, re-creating via cultural exchanges among people in the country, presenting a concord and respect among ethnic groups.
 
The submitted dossier has been prepared with the participation of community members, local government, industry organizations and experts; who voluntarily supported and undertook the preservation of the heritage.
 
In UNESCO's viewpoint, the honor of don ca tai tu may boost communication between communities, artists, and researchers; raise the public awareness of the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage at the local, national and international levels.
 
Established in 2008, the Intangible Cultural Heritage list comprises some 100 traditional events from around the globe and is designed to "help demonstrate the diversity of this heritage and raise awareness about its importance," according to UNESCO.
