The Government chief was glad with the new headquarters and praised diplomatic officials and staff for their contribution to diplomatic achievements in 2017.

The PM also hoped that the diplomatic officials and staff would spare no effort to make greater contributions to socio-economic development, national defense, security, and diplomatic work in 2018.

Mr. Phuc said that diplomatic work made direct contribution to export promotion of key products, tourism development, labor export, outward investment, and higher labor productivity.

In addition, the MoFA played an important role in safeguarding national defense, security, poverty reduction, and fulfillment of millennium development goals.

The Government chief proposed the diplomatic sector to spare no effort to serve economic and trade promotion.

Regarding economic diplomacy and economic integration, PM Phuc recommended the MoFA take advantage of Viet Nam’s commitments and articles to international economic agreements.

“Each diplomatic staff must be a messenger in economics,” said PM Phuc.

PM Phuc hoped that in 2018, the MoFA should select appropriate directions in accordance with the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress and Resolution 01 of the Government on solutions to developing socio-economic development.

The diplomatic sector was urged to improve diplomatic operation; safeguard the peaceful environment in favor of socio-economic development; and maintain the foreign guideline of peace, independence, self-reliance, and cooperation.

The MoFA was asked to proactively supply information and proposals on measures to promote overseas shipment of domestic products; take advantage of competitive advantages; develop potential markets; and call on investment for the country.

The PM also noticed the importance of manpower work and building a competent diplomatic contingent./.
