Deputy defence minister receives DAMEN Group CEO

VGP - Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lt Gen. Le Chiem showed his elation at the fruitful bilateral cooperation in shipbuilding with DAMEN Group while receiving CEO of the Netherlands company Rene Berkvens in Ha Noi on June 7.

Mr. Chiem applauded the cooperation in shipbuilding between the General Department of DefenceIndustry of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence and DAMEN Group.

He told guest that the Defence Ministry greatly values the firm’s capacity and advanced technology in shipbuilding, saying that DAMEN's technological transfer to Vietnamese defence shipbuilding factories has helped create many high-quality products for other countries and the coast and border guard forces of Viet Nam.

He expressed his belief that with DAMEN’s assistance, the Vietnamese ministry will reap more achievements in shipbuilding for safeguarding the country’s marine sovereignty.

For his part, Berkvens said the fine relations between DAMEN and shipbuilding companies of the Defence Ministry of Viet Nam have contributed to the Netherlands-Viet Nam cooperation in defenceindustry.

DAMEN deisres to expand ties in defence industry, including building multipurpose patrol vessels for the Viet Nam Coast Guard and other types of ships serving socio-economic development on the Southeast Asian nation’s islands, he said.
