Deputy PM receives Cuban ambassador

VGP – Viet Nam and Cuba need to continue promoting the efficiency of the Intergovernmental Committee cooperative mechanism, aiming to effectively implement the cooperation deals signed between the two countries, Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung has said.

At a reception for Cuban Ambassador to Viet Nam, Herminio Lopez Diaz, in Ha Noi on August 31, Deputy PM Dung congratulated the diplomat on having successfually completed his working tenure in Viet Nam, whilst asking for the ambassador’s continuous contributions to the development of Viet Nam-Cuba traditional brotherly relations at any position in the future.

He recalled his fine impressions of Cuba during his previous visits to the country, stating that the brotherly solidarity and comprehensive and trusted cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples have been constantly strengthened and further accelerated in all spheres over the past few years.

On that basis, Dung recommended that in the time ahead, the two sides need to facilitate existing cooperation mechanisms and finalize a legal corridor for development cooperation, with an immediate task of preparing well for the 35th meeting of the Viet Nam-Cuba Intergovernmental Committee, scheduled to take place in Ha Noi this October.  

Cuban Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz stated that during his working tenure, the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam and the diplomat himself have received enthusiastic support from the Vietnamese Government, ministries, sectors and localities in accelerating bilateral ties across various spheres.

Especially, both countries have deployed specific and effective cooperation projects in the fields of education, health, construction and agriculture, he said, adding that the two sides are negotiating some other new cooperative agreements in the areas of each side’s strength and demand.

The ambassador affirmed that Cuba expects to welcome Vietnamese companies to invest in the country in the time ahead, with many new policies to be applied to create an open and attractive business environment for the investors.
