Deputy PM hosts newly appointed Greek Ambassador

VGP – Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh asked Greek Ambassador to Viet Nam Ioannis E. Raptakis to actively contribute to furthering the Viet Nam-Greece and Viet Nam-European Union (EU) relations, during a reception for the newly appointed diplomat in Ha Noi on May 16.

Congratulating Raptakis on his assumption of tasks in Viet Nam, Politburo member Minh affirmed that the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and other Vietnamese agencies would create favorable conditions for the ambassador to successfully fulfill his mission.

The deputy PM spoke highly of the active development of the Viet Nam-Greece ties, stating that the two countries are coordinating closely and supporting each other at many multilateral forums and international organizations. 

He suggested a number of measures to accelerate bilateral cooperation across spheres in the time ahead, stressing the need to strengthen the exchange of high-level delegations, regularly maintain the bilateral consultation mechanisms, and promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

Voicing his honor to assume missions in Viet Nam, Ambassador Raptakis affirmed that Greece always attaches importance to enhancing relations with Viet Nam, while wanting the two sides to continue deepening bilateral ties. 

He pledged his utmost efforts to further facilitate the Viet Nam-Greece relations and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries as well as between Viet Nam and the EU during his working tenure.

The diplomat stated that Greece will actively promote the implementation of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) between Viet Nam and the EU, and the official ratification of the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), aiming to open up new prospects in trade and investment between the two sides in the future.
