Deputy PM Trọng visits India

VGP - Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng and his entourage arrived in India on December 9 to begin his working visit to the South Asian country.

December 11, 2009 4:01 PM GMT+7

Vietnamese Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng
They met with the General Secretaries of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Mr. Prakat Karat, and of the Communist Party of India (CPI), Mr. A. B. Bardhan, as well as the leaders of the Indian National Congress.

During the meetings, the Indian politicians expressed their admiration for President Hồ Chí Minh and the Vietnamese people’s victories under the leadership of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV). They hoped the strong ties between the CPI-M, CPI, the Indian National Congress and CPV will continue to grow.

The two sides exchanged information about each country’s socio-economic situation as well as issues of religion and ethnic minorities.

Mr. Trọng said that the Vietnamese Party and State always respect and secure citizens’ right of freedom of belief and religion, which were institutionalized by the Việt Nam National Assembly’s Ordinance on Religion.

He said that Việt Nam has 54 ethnic groups who have long been uniting each other during the construction and protection of a unified and sustainable multi-ethnic nation.

From December 11-17, Mr. Trong and his delegation will visit the States of Tripura and West Bengal to conduct field surveys on religious and ethnic minority issues there.
