Deputy PM Minh meets with Danish FM

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on Wednesday met with Danish FM Martin Lidagaard on the sidelines of the ASEAN-EU Ministerial Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to actively deploy the action plan for 2014-2015 in a bid to realize the Viet Nam – Denmark comprehensive partnership reached last September.

Danish side highly values Viet Nam’s role in the region and its dynamic development and considers the Southeast Asian country as a priority partner in the region.

The two countries reaffirmed their determination to lift up the two-way trade value to US$1 billion by 2016.

Denmark also proposed a bilateral free trade agreement with Viet Nam while pledging to accelerate another on-going FTA negotiations between the EU and Viet Nam.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh thanked Denmark for maintaining official development assistance for Viet Nam, affirming that the capital has been effectively used in administrative reform, education, environment among others in Viet Nam.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Denmark reiterated its supports for the EU’s common stance that all disputes need to be settled through peaceful measures on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea./.
