Politburo member Hue made the statement while hosting a reception for Michael Kelly, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ha Noi (AmCham Ha Noi), on May 2.

He said the Vietnamese and U.S. economies are complementary to each other, affirming that the Vietnamese Government would create the best possible conditions for U.S. firms in line with relevant domestic and international laws.

The Vietnamese Government believes that all the obstacles will be resolved adequately, thus contributing to boosting cooperation, investment, and trade between the two countries, towards the balanced interests for both sides, the deputy PM stated.

He expressed his wish that the AmCham Viet Nam, the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council, and U.S. companies would be an important bridge contributing to the development of the Viet Nam-U.S. diplomatic and economic relations in the time ahead.

For his part, Michael Kelly spoke highly of the developments in the diplomatic and economic relations between Viet Nam and the U.S. over the past few years, which, he said, have contributed to increasing benefits for enterprises of both sides.

He hailed Viet Nam as the most rapidly growing market in Asia in the time ahead, which promises to create many effective cooperation and business opportunities for U.S. companies.

The AmCham side stated that U.S. firms are interested in seven fields of cooperation and investment with Viet Nam, including healthcare, digital economy, trade facilitation, banking, and issues related to security-defence.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said that trade between Viet Nam and the U.S. grew positively, at 23%, over the past time; however, the U.S. side still saw a high trade deficit. The Ministry of Industry and Trade is working closely with the U.S. parties in order to bring the optimal benefits for the two countries’ enterprises, he added.

Deputy PM Hue plans to pay a working visit to the U.S. in the near future, during which he will meet with some key figures of President Donald Trump’s administration, as well as the U.S. firms, aiming to remove any existing obstacles and promote cooperation and investment between the two sides’ companies.
