Deputy PM, FM Minh meets with UK Vice Chief of Defense Staff

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on Wednesday met with Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Vice Chief of the UK Defense Staff who is on a working visit to Viet Nam from November 3-5.

The host expressed his pleasure at the positive developments in the Viet Nam-UK strategic partnership relations, including politics-diplomacy, economy, education and training as well as defense.

Both countries should continue effective deployment of the Memorandum of Understanding on defense cooperation sealed in November 2011.

Mr. Peach spoke highly of Viet Nam’s diplomatic achievements over the past time, which have helped enhance the country’s position in the region and the world.

He said that the defense cooperation potential still remains high that the dual sides should further expand in the time to come.

UK Ministry of Defense will coordinate closely with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense to accelerate the dual sides’ strategic partnership, especially in such field like defense and security, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world./.
